Our group of producers discussed the following with Senator Cramer: ethanol, trade, conservation, farm programs, crop insurance, and executive branch priorities during a meeting in the Senator's office. Sen. Cramer serves on the Environment and Public Works Committee and Energy and Natural Resources Committee and has been a helpful voice on agriculture policy matters. He service on the Environment and Public Works Committee provides a critical voice for agriculture.
Meeting with Risk Management Agency Administrator Martin Barbre
Meeting with USDA's Risk Management Agency (RMA) Administrator Martin Barbre (now fromer Administrator), and leaders of the North Dakota Corn Growers Association to discuss key issues in the federal crop insurance program. This USDA program is the top government sponsored tool for America's producers. A multi-billion insurance backstop, it is widely regarded as the number one such program worldwide. The only government relations consultant in Washington, DC to have had the privilege of previously serving in leadership roles at RMA, Callan was both Acting Administrator and its number two official.

At the Commodity Classic conference in Phoenix, AZ
During a trip to the 20th annual Commodity Classic, one of the nation's largest agriculture shows, Callan stands before a combine in the exhibit hall of the Phoenix Convention Center. The event provides a platform for producers and businesses involved in four major commodities -- corn, soybeans, wheat, and grain sorghum. He met with producers, tech and equipment companies, discussing current policy and business issues affecting agriculture, including matters before Congress, the Administration, and USDA. Policy meetings help set the issues agenda back in Washington, DC, which informs Callan's work in the Capitol and brings an on-the-ground view.

Callan traveled to North Dakota to meet with growers in Bismarck and Fargo regarding a Risk Management Agency - U.S. Department of Agriculture education partnership involving the North Dakota Corn Growers Association that provides advanced risk management tools to producers, building off expertise from economics professors at North Dakota State University.
His discussion with the then Governor focused on federal crop insurance and risk management education programming. Callan also met with several legislators, including House Majority Leader Al Carlson, and his visit was hosted by Representative Blair Thoreson.

Callan visited Quito, Ecuador, meeting with an Embassy official on agriculture policy issues in the U.S., Ecuador, and South America, and discussed recent developments and opportunities, including an upcoming risk management conference in South America.

Callan traveled to Valencia and Madrid Spain, meeting with agriculture officials at our Embassy in Madrid. Areas of interest included the U.S. Farm Bill along with crop protection, biotechnology, and crop insurance in the U.S., Spain, and Europe.
